Synopsis
This publication represents an important milestone in the recording and protection of buildings in our country. Over its seventy-eight year life, ESB has developed and built the electricity system in Ireland. In the process it has played a significant role in the construction of the national infrastructure, and it has also acquired a sizeable property portfolio incorporating offices, depots, shops, power plants and substations throughout the country.
These developments have left ESB with a legacy of installations, buildings and landscapes which form a core part, not only of its own, but also of the national heritage which need to be safeguarded and managed in a responsible way.
