The REO News from November 1951 reports on the benefits of storage heating in Aglish.
This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"At a demonstration in Aglish Area much interest was shown in the use of the power packet. In the interval between the first and second demonstrations a serviceable hand‑operated Bentall Grain Grinder was brought into the Area Office with the request that it be motorised if possible. The Area Staff, with Mr. Carragher’s assistance, fitted the implement pulley on the shaft which was somewhat under size but two pieces of Punchlok Clamps made excellent shims. The complete assembly operated satisfactorily. The unit was then used to demonstrate the power packet at the second demonstration. Among those who could not attend was one gentleman who was lame, having suffered an accident; he called to the office the following morning and asked about the motor. It was displayed for his benefit in his own farmyard and he immediately placed an order.
In the Aglish Area we also noted with pleasure that night‑storage heating is being installed in the National Schools as well as pressure storage pumping. This is an admirable step and shows considerable advances on the schools which we ourselves remember rather many years ago. It is a point which we recommend to Area Organisers that they should consult with the local Parish Priest or School Manager of other denominations, with a view to getting running water and, if possible, storage heating, installed in the schools in the Area. A successful installation would be of tremendous value in educating the young mind in the advantages of electricity."
