A pump demonstration was held on a farm in Ballinakill as reported in The REO News from July 1959.
This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"Since our last bulletin on pump demonstrations, Ballinakill and Wolfhill Areas in Portlaoise District were visited.
In Ballinakill, the demonstration was given on the farm of Mr. Murtagh McWay, of Clontycoe, Ballyroan, Co. Laois, on the 15th and 16th June. An Aquadare pressure system was fitted at the head of a 36-ft. deep well, which was discovered in Mr. McWay’s backyard after examination of an old map.
Mr. McWay installed a sink and 10-gall. waterheater in the scullery and a tap in the farmyard, 50 yards away. Other pumps and waterheaters were displayed, and light refreshments served to visitors.
