The state of the poultry market had an effect on sales in Ballinamore according to The REO News from May 1954.

This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"Ballinamore Rural Area, Co. Galway: A satisfactory report has been furnished by Mr. F.P. Cremins, R.A.E.
Acceptances were increased by 38 to 319, revenue by £225 to £1,714 with an 0.42% increase to 5.78%.
An audience of 600 people in Ballygar enjoyed a demonstration with films; but unfortunately one of the films dealt with the theory of the induction motor and as Mr. Cremins wryly says, had a rather limited appeal.
Sales amounted to £257; and again the conclusion is drawn that any fall in the poultry market hits domestic appliances heavily. Supervisor C. Bradley, receives a special word of praise."
