Construction difficulties were not grave in Broadford according to The REO News from February 1955.

This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"Broadford Rural Area, Co. Limerick: Mr. R. M. Scallan said goodbye to his crew at the conclusion of the Broadford Area, to take on the task of building up one of the newly formed construction gangs, and has taken the opportunity to express his thanks to his supervisor, Mr. Giblin and the other members of the crew for their constant help and co‑operation during his time with them."

This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"Broadford started off as an area with 187 economic acceptances of which five had been vacated and two others had never signed Application Forms. Backsliders were successfully limited to 7. As against these losses, 79 new consumers were obtained to arrive at a final total of 252. The original revenue was calculated to be £957, but the extra consumers brought this figure up to £1,250 and the final return improved from 5.03% to 5.27%, a matter on which the crew are to be congratulated.
Constructional difficulties were not grave. There was very little rock but considerable quantities of water, and in addition a fairly large amount of tree‑cutting and hedge‑clipping was necessary.
Sales for the area totalled £733 which is a rather medium figure but is explained by the fact that there was very strong local opposition from three shops stocking all types of electrical appliances. Principal items of Board sales included:
5 Cookers
1 Washing Machine
2 Pumps
22 Kettles
25 Irons
The time of year was not particularly propitious for sales and Mr. Scallan believes that a visit by a salesman about September next would prove very fruitful."
