The sale of appliances in Causeway rural area gave great cause for optimism according to the REO News from February 1950.A scanned page from the ESB REO magazine about the Causeway Rural Area. This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"Demonstrations: During the month demonstrations were held in Silvermines, Causeway, Gorosbridge, Courtown. We also tried the experiment of holding a post development demonstration in Ardrahan. This was only poorly attended and the results, accordingly, were disappointing. There was, however, no reason for disappointment at the sales in the Causeway and Courtown demonstrations. At the former, sales included 7 Grain Grinders; 2 Washing Machines; 1 150‑Egg Incubator; 1 Welder. The A.O., Mr. Murphy, anticipates that he will sell as much again in the next few weeks. At the Courtown demonstration A.O. Wallace included in his sales 4, 3‑plate Jackson Cookers; 1, 3‑plate Moffat Cooker; 2, 3‑plate De Luxe Moffat Cookers; 3 Burco 10‑gallon Boilers; 6 sets of light fittings; 1 Servis Washing Machine; 1 Vacuum Cleaner. We like particularly Mr. Wallace’s technique in dealing with his consumers. He brought them in to the demonstration, and quite frequently was rewarded by selling a larger and better appliance than had originally been intended."
