The REO News from August 1955 reports that Dromore is not a prosperous region.
This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"Dromore West Rural Area, Co. Sligo: Mr. C. Shouldice had a new gang in Dromore West under a new Supervisor, Mr. P. Harte. He also had a new Area Clerk, Mr. Guina, formerly attached to Dublin City Office and the leavening of experience was provided by Mr. McCaul, A.O., a veteran of many years in Donegal.
Dromore West is not one of the prosperous regions in the country and while final returns are not available we must congratulate Mr. Shouldice and his crew on increasing the revenue from £1,217 to £1,586 with a unit cost of 28/3d and a miles‑per‑unit figure of 4.07. Sales, both by the E.S.B. and by local contractors were quite poor but there was never any prospect that they would reach a high standard in that particular area.
Mr. Shouldice pays tribute to all the executives of his crew for coping very successfully with the difficulties which they encountered.
It may be of interest to note that Mr. Shouldice has since been transferred to Dundalk District to take over Mr. Trueick’s gang, Mr. Trueick being transferred to Distribution Department, Head Office."
