The resourcefulness of the rural staff knew no bounds as this example from The REO News of June 1948 shows.
This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"During the time when chimney brackets were unobtainable, Mr. Fegan, who was then R.A.E. in Julianstown, designed and had made a chimney bracket which was adopted with modifications as the standard rural chimney bracket. It is a very popular item with manufacturers as it uses up short lengths of angle iron and bar which are otherwise scrap. It has the advantages of being easily obtained and reasonably priced, and, in addition, will take standard M.95 insulators. We now learn that it has received the attention of Design Department who are interested in purchasing them for the urban networks.
Well done Mr. Fegan! WHAT ABOUT SOME MORE IDEAS?"
