According to The REO News from February 1955 the report from Kildalkey made pleasant reading.A scanned page from the ESB REO magazine about the Kildalkey Rural Area. This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"Kildalkey Rural Area, Co. Meath: In Mr. Ryan’s report on Kildalkey it is pleasant to read the terms in which he speaks of Very Rev. Fr. Kiernan, the Parish Priest. To his efforts he attributes the gain of 62 new acceptances and from the first day of their arrival he gave “The Gang!” as he called them, every assistance. This included procuring accommodation for them, and on the spiritual side he gave a special retreat at hours most suitable to the gang’s working hours. Mr. Ryan believes that if we ever decide to have a patron priest he has one ready made.
There were 33 backsliders out of the original total of 338 consumers. Most of them it was noted were among those who had signed, possibly under a certain amount of pressure, on a re‑canvass. As we have said, 62 new acceptances were gained, and in addition 17 others are paying Special Service Charges. The final figure shows an improvement to 359 consumers, a nett increase of 21 with a corresponding revenue increase of £211.
Final figures of capital expenditure were not available at the time of writing the report but it was expected that the original return of 6.11% would improve. Sales in the area reached the satisfactory total of £1,063 and included 10 Pumps; 1 Barngred Mills; 2 Grain Driers; 5 Cookers; and a number of other items in smaller quantities."
