Sales in Kiltulla were as good as could be expected according to The REO News from November 1955
This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"Kiltulla Rural Area, Co. Galway:
It is very pleasant to note that the return for Kiltulla improved from 4.96% to 5.48% and Mr. Hickey and his crew are to be congratulated on this result. The main reason for the improvement would seem to lie in the fact that no less than 136 new consumers were gained, a very high figure at any time, but particularly so in Kiltulla where the original total was 177. The fact that Bord na Mona’s Attymon Works are situated in the area speaks for itself, and it had also its effect in that the turf operations absorbed the best of the local labour.
Sales by the A.O. Mr. Cunniffe amount to £447 which, though not a high figure, is regarded as being as good as could be expected in an area of 20‑acre farms.
Mr. Hickey concludes by paying tribute to his Supervisor, Organiser, Charge‑hands, and men, for the successful result of the area."
