There were only five backsliders in Knockerra according to The REO News from February 1956
This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"Knockerra Rural Area, Co. Clare: The report on Knockerra Area is provided by Mr. M. Kiernan, and we believe this is the first occasion on which he has furnished us with a post construction report. We, therefore, are particularly glad to congratulate him on improving his first area from 5.34% to 6.30%. Modestly he gives considerable credit to his Supervisor and his crew, and pays tribute to his Organiser, Mr. P. Nix, who increased his consumers from 281 to 312, in which excellent result there were only five backsliders.
Sales for the area totalled £771 which might at first sight be regarded as only moderate but Knockerra is not one of the very prosperous regions of our country and we agree with Mr. Kiernan in regarding it as an excellent result with a nice balance between domestic and farm equipment and including no less than 6 pumps.
Future prospects for post-development connections or sales are regarded as rather poor."
