"Lisavaird Rural Area: The reports of Mr. M.B. Horgan, R.A.E. and Mr. Sean O’Donovan, A.O., stress the fact that the inhabitants of the Lisavaird Area are reasonably well off as a whole and that the area will, in a few years time, be a model one from the point of view of the use of supply. Out of the original acceptances of 309, 43 became backsliders and 39 other houses were rejected as uneconomic. Additional acceptances totalled 62, giving a net reduction of 20 consumers. The reduction in the fixed charge amounts to £54. We expect that the original percentage return will, therefore, be reduced, but Mr. Horgan is of the opinion that the area will prove a good one from the post-development point of view. Sales amounted to £526, the chief items being: 3, 3‑Plate Cookers; 2, Max Arcolette Welders; 9, Burco Boilers; 1, Mono Pump; 3, Leo Pumps; 1, Everite Deep Well Pump; 1, Everite Shallow Well Pump and 1, Servic Washing Machine."This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"Lisavaird, (Contd.): We are glad to see the number of pumps sold and note from Mr. O’Donovan’s report that 3 had already been installed at the time of writing. Technical advice on the question of water supply was freely given to enquirers and the area staff worked in co‑operation with the Department of Agriculture Inspector. Wiring contractors sold quite a respectable quantity of appliances, including some milking machines. The Area Organiser also reports that a soil heating apparatus has been installed at McCarthy’s Nurseries, which the owner claims to be a great success."
