Bad weather, bog and rock were encountered in Liskeevy according to The REO News from May 1956
This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"Liskeevy Rural Area, Counties Mayo/Galway:
Liskeevy is a relatively poor area on the Galway/Mayo border and the R.A.E., Mr. V. Gallagher tells us that a sales total of £111 is a fair representation of the area. It was, therefore, all the more encouraging to find that the percentage return improved from 4.60% to 5.52% and that the cost per premises supplied finished at £87.6. Bad weather, bog and rock were considerable handicaps in the construction but the Area Supervisor, Mr. A. O’Neill, and his charge‑hands, took these troubles in their stride. They converted 7 kms. of single phase line to 3‑phase in 2½ days with supply being restored each evening at 5.30; and all‑in‑all they lived up to the standard of a crew who during 1955 brought supply to 1,060 homes with an average weekly output of 200 work units, an average unit cost of 31/6d and an average transport figure of 3.2 miles per unit. Needless to say they finished in “Top Ten”."
