The REO News from June 1955 reports that flooding was a problem in Lixnaw.
This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"Lixnaw Rural Area, Co. Kerry: Mr. Ryan tells us that Lixnaw is a low‑lying area, subject to flooding of the Feale and its tributaries, and the going was difficult.
The gang was a new formation with Mr. John Nolan as supervisor to give the leavening of experience. In spite of difficulties the area ratio improved from 5.84% to 5.9%; the area finishing with a final total of 507 consumers against the original 449.
We must congratulate the A.O., Mr. J. Dowling, on a sales effort amounting to £1,106. He tells us incidentally that he expects further sales will be accomplished towards the end of the year."
