Water pumps were a good seller in Muff according to The REO News from April 1956
This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"Muff Rural Area, Co. Donegal:
Readers will recall the article entitled “A Race For Port” in our recent Christmas Issue, and Muff was the area primarily concerned. Mr. Quinn recalls this in his report on the area, and also claims that it was one of the last border areas in the county. We are glad to congratulate the crew on improving the area return from 5% to 5.35%. Mr. Quinn also recalls that the crew was still in Muff area when in October last they achieved the distinction of being second on the list in “Top Ten”, and he takes the opportunity of paying tribute to his Supervisor, Mr. M. Scanlon, and the Chargehands of the crew.
Sales in the area amounted to £820, a rather medium figure but one which Mr. Quinn regards as being reasonably good for an area of its size. He mentions that there were seven pumps amongst the list of items sold. There is a considerable interest in water supply in the area, and it is thought that a further visit from a salesvan would be well rewarded."
