The REO News from April 1951 notes that the eastern boundary of the Mulhuddart rural area is the wall around the Phoenix park.
This digital scan from the REO news displays the following text:
"Mulhuddart Rural Area: The post-construction report submitted by Mr. O'Doherty refers to the considerable amount of pre-Rural development that had already been carried out in this region, one of the results of which was that for 258 consumers it was only necessary to erect 16½ KM of H.T. line.
Another rather unique aspect of the area was that its eastern boundary line is the wall around the Phoenix Park.
Being so near the city, the A.O., Mr. Morkan, notes that actual sales within the area were small. It is recorded, however, that one consumer purchased equipment to the total value of £241. The cost of wiring and installation of this equipment was an additional £301.10.0.
Applications for permission to connect cookers in the area totalled 24 and, in addition, 3 Pumps and 2 Milking Machines have been installed. The total of 258 consumers represents an increase of 12 over the original 246. The corresponding increase in revenue was from £1,014 to £1,157."
