There was a problem with backsliders but sales were good in Myshall according to The REO News from August 1953.
This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"Myshall Rural Area, Co. Carlow: Mr. Boylan and his Area Organiser had a bad time with backsliding in Myshall rural area, due primarily to pressure by the local committee in persuading people to sign who had no intention of adhering to their signatures. In all, 50 consumers were lost, of which 10 were vacant, and one already had received supply. New acceptances only amounted to 34 and 16 of these are paying special service charges. Little wonder then that the final return fell from 5.51% to 5.26%.
Mr. Walsh had a much happier experience with sales and achieved the very respectable total of £1,157. Amongst his list we noted 10 washing machines, 8 pumps and 17 irons. Prospects for future sales are fairly bright and pumps particularly will be in good demand."
