The REO News from February 1954 reports that a shortage of labour caused some delays in New Inn
This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"New Inn Rural Area, Co. Tipperary:
Mr. Tansey’s report on New Inn advises us that if it had not been for the extreme shortage of labour, the area would have been completed at least six weeks earlier, with a corresponding reduction in labour content and overheads. However, good work by Supervisor, T. Hickey, and his chargehands, compensated considerably for the labour problem, and finished with the unit cost of 32/9d. The net gain in consumers was 22, and the area improved from 5.35% to 5.94%. This latter figure is its own tribute to the excellent effort in keeping down costs, particularly when it is considered that 18 consumers were supplied at the limit ratio.
It is rather a pity that sales could not have been better than a total of £544."
