The REO News from October 1955 reports that timber caused some difficulties in Reaghstown.
This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"Reaghstown Rural Area, Co. Louth: Mr. Colgan’s report on Reaghstown does not include any summary of the economics but we learn that the number of acceptances increased from 184 to 235. Whether this will have any effect on the area ratio is doubtful since it is noted that approximately 20% of the new consumers are paying special service charges. A fair amount of rock was encountered in the area but not so much as to cause an undue amount of trouble; timber was much more of a difficulty. It is noted that the crew were unfortunate enough to strike a period when material shortages were noticeable, and the report pays tribute to Materials Division for their endeavours to be helpful in unsatisfactory conditions.
Sales were low at £476 but we gather it was a difficult area for selling. Indeed one outside contractor described it as one of the worst areas in which he had ever operated. It does not seem that the prospects of future sales are very bright."
