The REO News from May 1956 reports that approximately 90% of consumers in Abbeylara installed plugs.

This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"Abbeylara Rural Area, Co. Longford: Abbeylara does not rank as one of the bright spots in Mr. A. P. Fleming's memories of construction work with our Scheme. Throughout the entire period he had to contend continuously with consumer difficulties and at one stage practically 30% of the signed consumers had fallen into the ranks of backsliders. In spite of all the difficulties the number of consumers was raised from 333 to 356 but the area return fell rather heavily from 5.68% to 5.2%. Sales fared little better but a visit from the salesman did prove of some value. A bright spot in the rather gloomy picture is that approximately 90% of the consumers installed plugs and perhaps some enthusiasm for the uses of electricity may be roused at some time in the future."
