The REO News from May 1952 tells us that good weather helped in Suncroft.
This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"Suncroft Rural Area: Mr. Coakley’s final report on Suncroft shows that the area return improved from 7.35% to 8.18%. An increase in consumers from 453 to 489 brought a corresponding increase in revenue of over £190, while the total net cost decreased by approximately £840. The saving in Capital Cost is attributed primarily to the easy nature of the ground and, secondarily, to the dry weather conditions which were encountered during the construction period. A disquieting feature of the report is that the net increase of 36 consumers includes 28 who were supplied under the new 20:1 ratio and takes into account the fact that backsliders were at the high total of 63. Sales by the A.O., Mr. Killeen, totalled approximately £800. There was keen competition from a large number of independent contractors who were wiring in the area and it is estimated that their total amounted to three or four times the total sold by the Board. Wiring was fairly well completed when the construction crew left. At that date there were 385 houses connected, about 70 others were practically ready for connection and the remaining 30 were waiting for contractors to complete their existing commitments before moving into their premises."
