Construction in Tomacork was not very difficult as reported in The REO News from February 1956
This digital scan from the REO News displays the following text:
"Tomacork Rural Area, Co. Wicklow: Mr. Cullen tells us that, apart from some pegging difficulties due to the undulating nature of the countryside, construction in Tomacork was not very difficult. Local labour was plentiful and of good quality but some of the farmer consumers were afraid that all their help would leave them at a time when they needed it most. An agreement was made with them that the list of workers available was examined by one of their number before signing‑on took place.
Final cost figures were not available at the time of writing the report but it is anticipated that the design return for the area will be maintained.
Mr. T.J. Ryan, Area Organiser, tells us that his sales were comparatively low, at a total of £672 but he had a good deal of competition as no less than six of the local shops in the town of Carnew stock agricultural appliances including pressure storage pumps. However, as Mr. Ryan’s present area is adjacent to Tomacork, he has still some hopes of effecting further sales."
